Congratulations! If you have fully participated in the process, you have experienced a a positive change in your health as well as discovering a new mindset and sense of purpose for your healthy life.
By choosing to become a non-smoker, you have made a decision that has an immediate healthy impact on your body. Twenty minutes after you smoked your last cigarette, your blood pressure and heart rate dropped. You may not have been aware of the change, but it occurred.
Take note of the improvements you are experiencing in your body. The benefits of quitting go on for a long time. You will begin to experience more energy and less stress; you reduce your chances of smoking-related illnesses and you can improve your sex life.
Here is a list from the American Cancer Society showcasing how your health improves incrementally over 15 years after quitting.
You now have a template by which to track the increase of your health. Each day your remain a non-smoker, you are gaining health and are erasing the damage done by exposure to cigarettes.
Over the course of this program, you have committed to changing your life. You tracked your consumption of cigarettes in terms of real dollars and real time lost to a damaging habit. You chose to become a non-smoker.
Now you know how much time and money you have reclaimed.
What will you do with your improved healthy and newfound finances?
Now it is time to re-connect with your intention for quitting.
What were some of the goals you set forth back in Part 3? Was it more time with family or maybe just saving the money that you used to spend on cigarettes. Maybe you have a new outcome in mind. It’s time to begin living those goals now.
Go back to your summary of time and money from Part 2. Commit now to using that time and those dollars in the way that you agreed. Write your intention here. You can make your promise to yourself or to another person whom you are asking to hold you accountable to your goal.
